Self-Righteousness

The hardest people to reach with the love of God are not the bad people. They know they are bad. They have no defense. The hardest ones to win for God are the self-righteous people.

Beware of self-righteousness in every possible shape and form. Some people get as much harm from their "virtues" as others do from their sins.

- J.C. Ryle

People who walk around with a self-righteous chip on their shoulder should first assess if their shoulder can bear the weight, lest they be weighed down by what they carry.

Shattered! I think not!

A Shattered view of the world?
Oh, look! I can see a few clear windows of insight in there. I guess it depends on your perspective.

Here today, Gone tomorrow!

富不过三代 (fu bu guo san dai)
Wealth does not pass three generations.

Explanation: In business, the first generation works extremely hard, so that the second generation reaps the benefits. By the time the third generation arrives, the wealth is squandered.

How true!

Serenity Prayer

God! Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the Courage to change the things that I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference

Brand Names

People who have achieved success in their lives have no need for brand names in order to validate their self-image. The brand names run after them to be associated with them, and bask in their glory.

People who have never achieved anything in their lives run after brand names. They need the brand names to validate their self-image. Indeed they derive their "glory" from the brand names.

Can I?

Those who can, do. Those who can't criticize those who can.

Those who can't, and know they can't, can be helped.
Those who can't, and think they can, are beyond redemption

Opportunity vs. Privilege

As they say, opportunity knocks at your door only once. The way the opportunity is viewed, I guess, depends on the attitude of the person whose door is knocked. A person coming from a rich background views the opportunity as just his/her privilege and perhaps does not perceive its importance. For a person from a poor background, every opportunity is a golden one. He/she will make the best use of whatever comes his/her way. Perhaps this is the difference between those who succeed in life and those who fall by the wayside.

Perseverance

Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
- Old Chinese Proverb

How often do we never attempt doing new things, try new items, try new ways of doing it, just because we are stuck in the old "rut". History has amply proved that those who dared to do new things were successful, may be not immediately, but eventually. Perseverance is the key.
